Can Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega II Live Up to the Original? Let Us Know what you Think!
The IWGP World Heavyweight Title match at this year’s Tokyo Dome show was arguably one of the greatest of all time. The critically acclaimed bout between Kazuchika Okada and Kenny Omega garnered rave reviews and created a buzz around New Japan Pro Wrestling that had been missing since the departure of Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
Kenny’s journey to the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 11 has been well documented. His return to the company in 2014 as a member of the Bullet Club breathed new life into the stable and turned Kenny in to an anime styled villain.
Kenny’s subsequent run in the Juniors division produced some excellent bouts against the likes of Taguchi & KUSHIDA. It was Omega’s performance in the G1 tournament and eventual win that would lead him on the path to worldwide superstardom and a match with possibly the best champion in the world currently…Kazuchika Okada.
Their match at Wrestle Kingdom 11 truly has to be seen to be believed, heralded by some as the ‘perfect’ pro wrestling match, the two combined elements of the Japanese Strong Style and more flamboyant Juniors division to produce a masterpiece.
Thank you everyone for your support and for watching #wk11 . It was the greatest stage for me to show my vision for pro-wrestling.

So the question is, how do you top the ‘best match in history?’ From what I have seen as a fan both Omega and Okada will not rest on the plaudits of that January 4th match. It is likely that a stipulation will be added to the match, it is extremely rare for Okada to have the odds stacked against him in say a Ladder match and it may well be time to put the IWGP Champion in a predicament he hasn’t faced before.
I truly believe that Omega & Okada will do their all to match the first bout, pop culture tells us that the sequel is never as good as the original…..but Terminator 2 was a great film.
