How Far Can Pete Dunne Go in WWE?
Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate from this past weekend’s NXT Takeover show was not only the match of the night, but arguably the best match in WWE this year….
Check out our observations from Takeover here:
The British Strong Style stablemates put on a performance that solidified the WWE UK Division as a genuine entity and ensured that their worth within the company is all but assured even if the WWE decide to dissolve the UK Title.
What do I mean by this? Well, Pete Dunne is now clearly being positioned as the ‘face’ of the WWE UK division, it is obvious that they see a lot of potential in him, the question is just how far can the ‘Brusierweight’ go in the WWE? We here at Turnbuckle don’t see why he couldn’t be positioned as a top mid card heel on either RAW or Smackdown, perhaps even further up the card.
Dunne is currently the PROGRESS champion and still has a lot of unfinished business in the United Kingdom….most notably facing the winner of the Super Strong Style 16 tournament that takes place this weekend.
So, what is Dunne capable of in WWE? As is always the case it is all dependent on how the company sees him, as a British brawler with a lot of William Regal in his style he hasn’t done himself any harm, his snarling personality and vicious streak typifies the type of heel that WWE has been missing for quite a while, possibily since Wrestlemania 31 when Rusev last had a real prominent role on the card.
How quickly will Dunne make the transition to the ‘main’ roster ? Again this all depends on how far WWE are looking to take the UK Division. We are predicting that Dunne will be a main roster member by the Royal Rumble next year, likely making his full roster debut in the Rumble match that night.
